NHKP MAESTRO SERIES: CAPRICCIOSO: A STRING FEAST WITH STEFANO PAGLIANI

World-class violinist Stefano Pagliani will join hands with New Hong Kong Philharmonia to perform works by Vivaldi, Thais, Bloch, and more on 21 Jan 2019 at Hong Kong City Hall, Theatre.

 

Hailed by Lorin Maazel as “the most prominent concertmaster in Italy”, Stefano Pagliani is an on-demand solo violinist on both his home turf and beyond. In 1986, he was chosen by Zubin Mehta as First Solo Violin of the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. Subsequently, for more than 10 years, he had been First Solo Violin of La Scala Theatre Orchestra under the baton of Riccardo Muti. With both orchestras he had performed solos in wide-ranging EMI and Sony Classical recordings. In addition, Pagliani was invited by Claudio Abbado to join the Lucerne Philharmonic Orchestra and made multiple performances as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra in KKL Lucerne. Besides a director and organiser of music festivals in Europe and Asia, Pagliani is also an adjudicator of international competitions, including the prestigious International Competition for Young Musicians “Luigi Zanuccoli”.
