Violin ( Concertmaster )
Cheuk-Yin Clement Luu, born in Hong Kong, is a violinist whose artistry combines refinement, depth, and commanding presence. He currently performs with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and serves as Concertmaster of the NHKP Baroque Chamber Orchestra, one of Hong Kong’s leading ensembles dedicated to baroque music.
As Concertmaster of the NHKP Baroque Chamber Orchestra, Mr. Luu is also prominently featured in numerous solo works, collaborating with distinguished overseas artists and contributing to the ensemble’s growing artistic profile. His performances are marked by a luminous tone, expressive nuance, and a natural ability to lead from the violin, drawing audiences into the heart of the music from the very first note.
In July 2026, Mr. Luu was invited to perform Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 with the Hong Kong Medical Association Orchestra, further highlighting his presence as a soloist as well as an orchestral leader.
Before returning to Hong Kong, Mr. Luu distinguished himself in the United States as a member of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, where he also served as Second Assistant Concertmaster. In these leadership roles, he was recognized for his musical insight, technical brilliance, and the confidence he inspired among colleagues.
Mr. Luu earned his Diploma from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where he studied with Prof. Ivan Chan, before completing his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Yale School of Music under Jaime Laredo and Syoko Aki respectively. His musical development was further shaped by his participation in distinguished festivals including the Kent Blossom Music Festival, the Meadowmount School of Music, and the Tanglewood Music Center, where he was selected as a violin fellow.
Combining orchestral excellence, soloistic authority, and historically informed artistry, Cheuk-Yin Clement Luu continues to play an important role in the musical life of Hong Kong and in the artistic development of the New Hong Kong Philharmonia.
劉卓彥出生於香港，是一位兼具細膩修養、深度內涵與舞台氣度的小提琴家。現為香港小交響樂團小提琴手，並於 2026 樂季擔任 NHKP 巴洛克室樂團首席。作為樂團首席，他與音樂總監緊密合作，帶領這支香港具代表性的巴洛克室樂團，參與塑造樂團的藝術方向，並將風格洞察、精緻的領導氣質，以及對巴洛克音樂的深刻理解融入演出之中。
在 NHKP 巴洛克室樂園中，劉氏不僅肩負樂團領導角色，亦經常於多部獨奏作品中擔任重要演出，並與多位來自海外的藝術家合作。他的演奏以明亮通透的音色、細膩豐富的表情層次，以及自第一個音符起便能引領聽眾直抵音樂核心的感染力而著稱，展現出樂團首席的穩健風範與獨奏家的音樂權威。
2026 年 7 月，劉氏獲邀與香港醫學會樂園合作演出布魯赫《第一小提琴協奏曲》，進一步展現其作為獨奏家與樂團領導者的雙重藝術面貌。
在回港發展之前，劉卓彥於美國樂壇表現卓越，曾任 Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra 及 Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra 成員，並於後者擔任樂團第二副首席。在這些領導崗位上，他以敏銳的音樂見解、精湛的演奏技巧，以及能夠凝聚團隊信心的領導風範而備受肯定。
劉氏早年於香港演藝學院修畢文憑課程，師承 Ivan Chan教授，其後赴美深造，於 Cleveland Institute of Music 取得音樂學士學位，並於 Yale School of Music 獲頒音樂碩士學位，先後師承 Jaime Laredo 及 Syoko Aki。在多位著名教育家的悉心指導下，他逐步淬鍊出兼具理性深度與真摯情感的音樂語言，藝術表現於音樂廳中尤為動人。
此外，他亦曾參與 Kent Blossom Music Festival、Meadowmount School of Music 及 Tanglewood Music Center 等重要音樂節，並曾獲選為 Tanglewood Music Center 小提琴 fellow，與來自世界各地的優秀音樂家及新晉演奏家交流切磋，進一步拓展其藝術視野與音樂格局。
